]]>OMAHA, Neb., March 22, 2011 -- New owners bring a new sense of fashion, functionality and eco-friendliness to Short Hat Company, a fast-growing business dedicated to creating beautiful, quality hats that satisfy the needs of both children and parents.
Tom and Tracy Sailors of Omaha, NE acquired Short Hat Company from its original owners in 2010. Since then, the Sailors have added nearly 50 boutiques to their dealer roster and have increased overall sales 300% in 2011 compared to this time last year. Retail giant Von Maur will begin carrying select styles in the Fall 2011 at locations in Omaha and throughout the midwest.
For the Sailors, the Short Hat brand, launched in 2007, was interesting on a personal and professional level.
"For two years, Short Hat Company was a supplier at one of our other companies," says Tom Sailors. "We had always been huge fans of the brand and were interested in moving to the wholesale side of the business, so this was a nice fit."
Classically-styled and built for high performance, Short Hat Company hats solve some of the most perplexing parent-child winter wear challenges, putting an end to the "hats-on, hats-off game" so prevalent during the cold weather months. Some of the unique features built into each piece of Short Hat Company headwear include:
These features are responsible for the surge in popularity of Short Hat hats. A focus on sustainability promises to push brand love even higher.
"Sustainability has been a priority for Short Hat Company from day one," explains Tom Sailors.
Yarns – prized for their quality, softness and warmth – have traditionally been sourced from Argentina. But now, in addition to its attention to style and comfort, Short Hat Company is meticulously selecting fibers for their hats that are either organic or recycled. Tracy Sailors elaborates: "We source organic and renewable fibers whenever possible, and we use recycled plastic visors in our brimmed caps."
The company is also taking measures to reduce their environmental impact in the office by creating collateral materials out of 100% recycled paper from 100% renewably-powered mills, printed by hand using soy inks.
From the start in 2007, Short Hat Company has been focused on providing both protection and fashion that suits the needs of parents and kids alike. The Sailors say the company's tradition of excellent craftsmanship will continue, relying on manufacturing operations that uphold fair labor practices by providing employees with fair wages and a safe, comfortable work environment.
